We're trying to decide where to put what in the new house.

Should my desk be....

1. Downstairs in the partially finished basement. Easy to have a quiet, dedicated, Isaac-free workspace, clear separation of work and home space, makes the upper levels all the clearer and calmer.
Con: I spend much of my day at my desk, so I'll be in the basement, a slightly cave-like situation, for much of the day.

2. In the living room. Lots of light with great windows, cable outlet alraedy run there, we do have room to put our table and china cabinet and a desk there.
Con: While eating dinner, I'd be looking at my desk thinking about work to be done.

Thoughts?

I'd say living room. If you spend most of your day in the basement, you might turn into a goth. And while a goth Jazzercize instructor would be AWESOME, middle aged women will probably have seizures attempting to keep up with NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine."

If you can make it work - I say the living room too! After all...if that is where you spend your time, you'll enjoy the sunniness. And you'll find a way to deal with the nagging of having it so visible. :-P

I vote basement as I find it's better to separate workspace from homespace. Dad votes basement unless you have to pay money to get another cable modem put in and then he says living room. :) Good luck with the move!

Basement. get some lights, CD player, put up a panoramic poster of a lighthouse, whatever gives you a sense of light and space. Once you've nested, you'll have an Isaac-free zone of productivity, and you can leave it all behind you when you come into the rest of the house.

Hi. I forgot my old username and password and everything. So I made a new one. I hope that was okay.

Anyways... basement is much better. Separation of work and home is key and basements are cool (no pun intended). Be sure to get a dehumidifier though, damp basements will be hell on your WBC's and allergies will run rampant.

okay.
