It's the same way I might have told the world via blog that I'd heard the "Hi Guys" comment to me and my sister (last name of Guy) a few times before had there been blogs back in the day. I would have hoped that people would think about it and realize their comment was not original.

But some double bass tests, like yours, really need the recipient of the common statements/questions to tell us what the heck they always hear.
